"Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant." I Kings 8:56.

Spiritual Israel is at rest today just as the nation of Israel was when Solomon blessed them at the dedication of the temple (I Kings 8:55-61). God's redeemed, particular people rest in the finished work of Christ:

1. His substitutionary life satisfied the law that we could not obey,
2. In His death He bore our sins and Justice was satisfied,
3. In His resurrection He imputed His righteousness unto us.

The nation of Israel was promised a land to dwell in and the promise that the Messiah would be given. We have received the promised Messiah and He has promised "that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:15). Indeed, we can rejoice in knowing that "there hath not failed one word of all His good promise!"
