It always grieves my heart when I hear religious people talking about their own faith, their own faithfulness, their own obedience, their own works, and their own righteousness. I sadly wonder if they have any true spiritual light at all. I find myself, I think by the Spirit of God, ashamed of my faith (the weakness and lack thereof), ashamed of my faithfulness, my obedience, my works, my righteousness, (the weakness and sinfulness thereof). I have one hope and one only, one boast and one only, "JEHOVAH TSIDKENU," "The Lord our righteousness," Jeremiah 23:6. Full, everlasting, justifying righteousness is God's free gift to sinners in and through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:12,19). What God requires of sinners, He has fully and freely provided for sinners through His incarnate Son (Romans 3:24,25). By the obedience of the sinless Son of God, sinful sons of Adam are made righteous, through faith in Him (Romans 5:19; 2 Corinthians 5:21).
