To Rest in Him Alone

In old eternity the Lord,
His purpose so decreed,
To save a remnant of our race,
Through Christ, the woman's Seed.
Chosen in Him ere time began,
Ordained to be His own;
Someday we shall, by sovereign grace,
All gather at His throne.

Behold the Shepherd of the sheep,
Came down the lost to save;
And on the cruel, bloody tree,
His life He freely gave.
Upon the cross in agony,
The Savior bled and died;
And by His one great sacrifice,
Our souls are justified.

The blood poured out at Calvary
To ransom all the lost;
Has satisfied God's holy law,
And paid the awful cost.
Acceptance for the vilest one,
In Christ alone is found;
Mercy and pardon, grace and love,
Through Him to us abound.

Come all ye sinners, guilty souls,
Attend to this blest sound;
Salvation for the vilest one
In Christ alone is found.
O may the Lord in pow'r divine,
Break every heart of stone;
And draw us to His precious Son,
To rest in Him alone.
